Job Title: Project Controller - Submarines

Working Pattern: 37 hours

Working location: Bristol – with some travel to Derby and Barrow.

Rolls-Royce Submarines is proud to be part of The Dreadnought Alliance that was formed in 2018 along with the MoD and BAE Systems . The Alliance's mission is to deliver four Dreadnought submarines for £31 billion, with the first one ready for patrol in the 2030s. There is currently an exciting opportunity for a Project Controller to join our team. In this varied role you will project managing the permissioning and contracting of the funding secured by the Alliance to deliver the Dreadnought Class of Nuclear-powered, deterrent carrying submarines.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. What you will be doing:

  • Support the delivery of the Delivery Phase 4 approval campaign
  • Project managing route to contract plans, including required approvals.
  • Responsible for building effective working relationships with industrial partners, Alliance functions and DNO & SDA stakeholders.
  • Engages with subject matter experts to bring their advice and expertise into joint workstreams, coordinating resources to best effect.
  • Provides written and verbal briefings to stakeholders on Dreadnought Commitments and DP4 Campaign progress.
  • Develops contract artefacts including Change Requests, AEDs, MDAL, Risk Register, Scope Description

  • Qualified Project Manager or working towards (APM Q, or similar)
  • Experience of procurement processes, or a keen interest to learn

  • Numerate, e.g. has some skills in Excel, and is able to apply analytical skills
  • Comfortable working at pace with changing priorities
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Displays strong team working skills and a passion for driving the performance of the Alliance to deliver against tight timescales
  • Has the ability to keep things simple and remove complexity - communicates with clarity, brevity and simplicity, sets simple clear priorities
  • Understands and promotes collaboration both inside and outside of the Alliance

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MoD approved cases, a dual national.
