Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Estimator to support the delivery of a multi-billion-dollar new nuclear program. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, field-oriented environment and is comfortable working closely with project teams, clients, contractors and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will not only have exceptional estimating skills and be able to lead a team effectively and efficiently driving value for money and savings but they will also need to have excellent communication skills being able to communicate with all members of the team including up to C-Suite and Board level executives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation of all classes of cost estimates for all phases of the program ranging from site set up and enabling works through to major infrastructure to nuclear technology.
Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate quantity take-offs and pricing.
Coordinate with procurement, engineering, and project controls to ensure alignment of estimates with project scope and execution plans.
Review subcontractor and supplier quotes, ensuring competitiveness and compliance with project requirements. Be proficient in understanding current market rates and be able to effectively challenge contractors on rates.
Drive estimating efficiencies suggesting value management and value engineering at all aspects of the project and program – actively working with the schedule team to drive and cost scheduling efficiencies and provide value for money for the client.
Develop industry leading estimates and benchmarking as well as mentoring junior estimators and contribute to the development of estimating tools, templates, and best practices.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in estimating, with a strong focus on infrastructure or energy projects.
Professional certification (e.g., PQS, MRICS, CIQS) is required.
Experience with nuclear or highly regulated industrial projects is a strong asset.
Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Proficient in estimating software (e.g., CostX, Sage Estimating, or similar).
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Willingness to work on-site within the client environment at Kincardine three days per week. Expenses for travel and accommodation will be paid by Turner & Townsend.
