Seeking a Transmission Substation Engineer with around 4 or more years experience to join the Energy Transmission team of a consulting engineering firm. To be based in their Johannesburg or Cape Town offices.

Working across the Transmission and Distribution sectors, projects span across HVAC and HVDC feasibility and FEED, HVAC and HVDC Design, project management, techno-economic assessments, and Regulatory and Advisory services.

Involved in a wide range of transmission projects in the energy, rail, nuclear, building and utilities sectors.

Duties & Responsibilities

Requirements:
  • BSc or BEng in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • Preferably registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
  • 4 or more years experience in the design and delivery of EHV and HV (765kV-132kV) Substations, Primary or Secondary Plant along with skills in Analysis of these networks for AIS and GIS substations.
  • Client/project management 
  • Hands-on knowledge of substation design software such as: CDEGS and others
  • Ability to conduct lightning protection studies
