Principal Engineer Engine Performance and Testing (7 to 12 yrs Experience)

Job Profile:

  • Coordinate, prepare and perform diesel engine development, calibration and engineering support work in an engine dynamometer test cell and if necessary, in the field.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and perform the testing of prototype engines, engine components and after treatment systems by working with test cell operators and other supporting departments to execute tests and development programs.
  • Lead emissions compliance testing at 3rd party facilities, documentation, reviews, and support - Emissions Compliance team for submittal of new products, as well as running changes.
  • Develop, analyze and evaluate unique engineering solutions with consideration of factors such as system effectiveness, reliability, configuration, emission regulations, customer requirements and cost.
  • Development of Engine performance model (Gas dynamics & Thermodynamics) from scratch in 1D GT Power
  • Experience of Turbo charger matching, Engine load step predictions, Emission model development (NOx), Valve Timing optimization approaches.

  • Build and integrate model in Hardware-in-Loop (HiL)/Software in Loop (SiL) environment • Develop technically reasonable and feasible alternatives with regards to time and money for challenges occurring during the progress of the project.
  • Provide field support for After Sales and Applications departments whenever complex issues require engineering support.
  • Provide support for production and train production staff whenever complex issues require engineering support.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers, allowing them to learn from your experiences.
  • Perform special projects as required
  • Ability to travel - domestic and international
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including night shifts and weekends

Skills/Requirements

  • BSME (Bachelor of Science – Mechanical Engineering) or MSME (Master of Science – Mechanical Engineering).
  • Extensive experience with diesel engine performance and emissions calibration Strong knowledge of engine control units and their operation
  • Extensive experience with engine-specific instrumentation, data acquisition systems, signal processing and data management
  • Excellent organizational, planning and follow-up skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong ability to adapt to new circumstances quickly
  • Experience with ETAS INCA, AVL CAMEO, AVL PUMA, GT Power, Uniplot, MATLAB and Simulink
  • Skilled in handling MS-Word, Excel, Project, Outlook
