The candidate must be able to competently perform routine and specialised PET/CT imaging and produce quality images for physicians and radiologists to diagnose, treat, monitor, and prevent injury or d
Duties & Responsibilities
You will be responsible for obtaining patients' histories from electronic records, patient interviews, dictated reports, communicating with referring clinicians, and subsequently compiling comprehensive interpretive reports of findings.
Responsible for operating relevant equipment required to facilitate imaging within the PET/CT department.
Their role also involves interacting with patients to offer them psychological support and reassurance.
Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) are required to position patients for imaging correctly.
The NMT explains to the patient the details of a radiographic procedure and provides answers to their questions, which donβt include a diagnosis.
They set accurate radiation levels in accordance with established standards. Responsible for obtaining patient consent prior to radiopharmaceutical administration and diagnostic imaging (when it is an invasive or contrast-related procedure). Administrative tasks:
Performs general clerical tasks, such as answering phones, updating patient appointments, retrieving, entering, and revising patient electronic records.
Able to read, understand and interpret request forms from referring doctors.
Responsible for scheduling appointments; this includes liaising with the referring doctors and ward matrons regarding patients who are hospitalised.
Responding to queries via email and WhatsApp.
Obtaining medical aid authorisations for patients.
Ensure that the patientβs medical histories are typed and the relevant required documentation is presented to the radiologist and nuclear physician prior to scanning.
Ordering of radiopharmaceuticals from offsite laboratories as well as receiving early morning phone calls for rescheduling/cancellation of doses.
Timeously communication production failures with staff & patients.
Inventories and orders of supplies periodically to maintain established stock levels.
Ensuring that PET/CT scan reports and Images are released to referring doctors timeously. Imaging Tasks
Explain to the patient the procedure, administration of medications or contrast media, and the associated biological effects in a clear and professional manner to alleviate fear and anxiety.

Performs PET/CT scans, which require a sound understanding of anatomical positioning, human physiology, and equipment.Safely operates diagnostic equipment.
Ensures that all scans are completed in accordance with department protocol and within established time frames.
