Welcome, identify, and assess patients according to hospital and HPCSA protocols.
Explain procedures clearly, address patient concerns, and obtain informed consent.
Prepare patients for examinations, including verifying clinical history, contraindications, and pregnancy status.
Receive, prepare, and handle radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with radiation protection and good pharmacy practice standards.
Administer radiopharmaceuticals via appropriate routes (e.g., IV, oral, inhalation) while monitoring for adverse reactions.
Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and dosing accuracy
Position patients correctly and operate imaging equipment to acquire high-quality diagnostic images.
Apply appropriate imaging protocols according to departmental, manufacturer, and clinical guidelines.
Performing a variety of Nuclear Medicine diagnostic procedures (planar, SPECT, SPECT/CT, PET/CT).
Preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals.
IV cannulation and handling of nuclear medicine injections.
Operating gamma cameras, PET/CT systems, dose calibrators, and quality control equipment.
Applying radiation protection principles and complying with Department of Health / Radiation Control requirements.
Quality control procedures for imaging equipment and radioactive materials.
