Engineering Divisions at Bruce Power support all engineering activities associated with the safe operation of our 8 operating units and Life Extension program, to ensure that we operate until 2064 and, our Major Component Replacement means we will be operating at the highest level.

This is a term position which may be for a period of up to 60 months, offers a competitive compensation package and is located on-site in Tiverton, Ontario.

A day in the life of an Engineer at Bruce Power:

Engineers at Bruce Power are required to provide technical evaluations and advice, solve problems and co-ordinate technical work in several major work areas, including the support of commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the facilities. As a new engineer building a career in the nuclear industry or an experienced engineer looking to grow your career at Bruce Power; there are many opportunities to learn and apply classroom knowledge or your experience in a meaningful way.

Many new Engineers work in the station, where they are up close and personal with the systems and teams of people that keep the plant running. Other opportunities allow Engineers to work on a project designing a piping system and afforded the opportunity to go on “walk downs” to physically check the existing systems and how the new system will interface. They gain invaluable insight from those in the plant who are open to answering any questions about their specific systems.

Other responsibilities may include the preparation of technical documents such as equipment specifications and engineering calculations. The engineering positions at Bruce Power include responsibilities and technical focus that provide you with a sense of the challenging and engaging engineering work that is available within the nuclear industry.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Requires the ability to analyze complex problems and develop practical solutions, while providing technical advice and guidance throughout the design, commissioning, and operational phases of a nuclear facility.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement

  • Familiarity with project management principles and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in using engineering software tools and data analysis applications to support design and operational decisions.

  • Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in all aspects of engineering work.

  • Interest in sustainability and contributing to Ontario’s clean energy future through nuclear technology.

  • Adaptability to learn new systems and processes, with a willingness to take on challenging assignments.

  • Experience and/or knowledge within the nuclear industry is considered an asset but not required.

Education and Experience

Engineer (Occupation Code 670325)

  • Completion of a 4 year University degree in Engineering from various disciplines including Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical & Nuclear.

  • An Ontario Professional Engineering designation is required (P.Eng.).

  • A period of over 6 years and up to including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.

Engineer Trainee (Occupation Code 670207)

  • Completion of a 4 year University degree in Engineering from various disciplines including Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical & Nuclear.

  • Required to be working towards a valid Professional Engineers of Ontario certification within a period of 4 years.

  • A period over 2 years, up to and including 4 years of experience is considered necessary.
