Exciting role as External Communincations Manager within out London Kings Place location
Purpose of the role
- Deliver corporate level communications to help shape the environment in which the company does business, positioning the company as a trusted partner of choice.
- Raise awareness of the scale of our Civil Aerospace operations, our business, our products, services and technology amongst key external stakeholders in portfolio markets.
- Deliver strategic communications that shape positive perceptions with key external stakeholders.
- Work closely with members of the wider External Communications team to engage stakeholders and manage reputation.
What you will be doing:
Strategic
- Form the communication strategy for a market that is aligned to the global or regional corporate communications strategy and present it to the Civil Aerospace Head of External Communications for discussion and agreement.
- Deliver the strategy through a content-led communications plan to promote and position the business, with a focus on the audience rather than opportunistic or tactical activity.
- Lead and develop strong relationships with key industry media to drive positive coverage and awareness of the Group’s business strategy and commitment to customers.
Operational delivery
- Deliver on the communication plan activities successfully and smoothly, demonstrating a ‘self-start to success’ approach on proactive activities
- Lead and deliver on the communications priorities for specific markets as agreed with the Head of External Communications to ensure alignment with Global, regional or business direction and focus.
- Build a support structure to ensure successful delivery of communications plan. This may involve collaborating across the whole of Group Communications, as well as with agency partners.
- Plan and manage to an allocated budget.
- Ensure the appropriate level of visibility in specific markets to ensure we maintain license to operate.
Measurement and reporting
- Ensure a robust reporting cycle and useful reporting content that can be put to learnings and drive improvements in our communications strategy and planning.

Qualifications for the role:
- Recognised expert and owner of best practice in public or media relations.
- Outstanding writing and editorial skills with a proven track record of effective inter-personal (corporate) communication skills.
- Strong awareness of, and skills related to, digital channels.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to rapidly implement a coherent and measurable communication strategy within a highly-matrixed environment
- Thoughtful, independent, committed and very flexible approach bringing in new thinking and challenge.
- Passion for, and knowledge of, engineering or technology sector including that of commercial or defence aerospace.
- Collaborative approach and proven track record of dealing with, and influencing, key stakeholders inside and outside an organisation.
