Currently, our Corporate Communications team has a Communications Specialist opportunity. As part of our Corporate Affairs division, Corporate Communications is accountable for sharing Bruce Power news and business updates with employees, as well as the strategic dissemination of Bruce Power information with external parties.
The Communications Specialist is a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to work with several client groups, including employees, community members, investors, regulators, Indigenous peoples, media, and all levels of government, while producing creative written, visual, and broadcast content for the company's various web sites as well as, community outreach, investor, government media and employee communication vehicles.
The individual hired for this opportunity will be directly supporting communications for the stations, and will be situated on-site.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute internal communication plans that support station priorities, safety culture, and operational excellence.
Align messaging with corporate and site leadership objectives. Adapts writing style to suit employees, leadership team, technical personnel and ensure relevance and clarity.
Develop and successfully deliver strategic, multi-media communication plans for a variety of issues from concept through production. Ensure those plans and supporting material aligns to Bruce Power's corporate standards and brand voice.
Proactively identify and manage ongoing and emerging issues. Develop strategic messages and appropriate communication platforms to best deliver those messages to target audiences
Support leadership communications to draft talking points, presentations and scripts for site leadership town halls, briefings and employee engagement sessions
Demonstrates clarity, precision and professionalism in all written materials including reports, newsletters and executive communications.
Ability to translate complex technical information into clear messaging for internal audience
Experienced in creating engaging content for emails, intranet posts, presentations and internal campaigns that resonate with station staff. Support the company's Emergency Preparedness program by having a key role in internal and external communications activities
As assigned, represent Bruce Power at community, industry, government, media, or employee functions
Create and manage mechanisms for measuring internal communications
Host site guests on station tours
Obtain additional training qualifications to fulfil this role
Education and Experience
This knowledge is considered to normally be acquired through the completion of Grade XII plus a minimum of a two-year Community College course in Journalism/Media Relations or the equivalent
A period of over 10 years of experience is considered necessary to gain the experience required for this position
Requires knowledge of internal communication channels and ability to work as a team and cross-functionally to deliver employee events, town halls and support as required.
Requires knowledge or professional experience in communications, preferably in internal communications within a corporate or industrial setting.
Requires excellent communications skills in English to effectively communicate orally and in writing with all levels of corporate staff and stakeholders via multiple vehicles
Experience working in the Nuclear Industry is considered an asset
