Job Description
Manage the provision of technical support to the Business Systems team, ensuring the effective delivery and development of the UKAEA Group ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. This covers all Procurement, Financial and HR processes for UKAEA and UKIFS. The Business Systems Team maintains the existing ERP system, Unit4 ERP CR (Continuous Release) ensuring we keep up to date with software updates/upgrades in compliance with our contract and best practices. The Team supports circa 2500 users with UKAEA key business processes.
Core responsibilities
Lead technical support for the UKAEA Group Enterprise Resource Planning system, ensuring effective operation and continuous improvement of finance, procurement and human resources processes across UKAEA and UK Industrial Fusion Solutions, supporting around 2,500 users.
Manage the maintenance and development of the Unit4 Enterprise Resource Planning continuous release platform, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, best practice and regular software updates.
Provide senior technical advice to the Business Systems Senior Manager, leadership and key stakeholders, particularly in finance, people and procurement functions.
Act as Contract Project Manager for key service contracts, including the Unit4 software-as-a-service agreement, banking and payment services, and financial analytics and credit reference services.
Lead the technical development and management of application programming interfaces and data integrations between the enterprise resource planning system and internal and external platforms.
Oversee the planning, delivery and optimisation of system enhancements, including resource and budget management capabilities and integrations with payroll and pension systems.
Manage and develop the Business Systems technical team, including performance management, regular one-to-one meetings, probation reviews and capability development.
Provide technical leadership for major business change and information technology projects, defining system configuration, approving technical changes and contributing to functional design.
Advise senior leadership on enterprise resource planning architecture, system strategy and the technical implications of organisational transformation programmes.
Manage system integrations and interfaces with internal and external platforms, including recruitment, payroll, pension and operational systems, as well as identity and access services.
Oversee system environments, infrastructure requirements and cloud services, including security controls, data integrity, testing policies and third-party access management.
Ensure strong governance, compliance and operational assurance, managing change processes, resolving technical issues with suppliers, and overseeing budgets, work orders and system workflows.
Qualifications
Extensive experience managing and developing enterprise resource planning systems and related platforms, with a strong understanding of organisational processes across procurement, projects, people and finance.
Strong contract and project management experience, including familiarity with government procurement policies for enterprise resource planning and digital services.
Solid technical understanding of large database systems and cloud-hosted environments, with a working knowledge of structured query language and programming logic.
Proven problem-solving ability, capable of analysing complex technical and business issues and delivering effective solutions.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to work effectively with colleagues at all levels and with external partners.
High proficiency in Unit4 reporting tools and data analysis, including browsers and information browsers, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
