On behalf of our client, Colonial Machine Company, Decision Associates is seeking an experienced Production Manager. This individual will be responsible for leading all aspects of manufacturing operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of components for the nuclear power, natural gas transmission, valve manufacturing, oil refinery, paper mill, and general industrial sectors.

The Production Manager oversees the production of seamless stub ends, hanger components, valve components and spool assemblies. This role provides leadership to manufacturing staff, ensures compliance with stringent nuclear quality standards, and drives continuous improvement in processes, quality, and safety.

The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership experience in specialty machining or nuclear/industrial component production, a strong technical understanding of machining and fabrication processes, and the ability to foster a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, coordinate, and supervise all manufacturing operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules, nuclear quality standards, and cost objectives.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize workload to meet customer and internal delivery requirements.
  • Lead, train, develop, and mentor manufacturing team members to ensure accountability and high performance.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ASME, and Colonial Machine’s nuclear quality program standards.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment, scheduling preventative maintenance and coordinating repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and quality assurance teams to resolve production challenges and enhance product quality.
  • Analyze production data and implement lean manufacturing practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Maintain accurate records of production output, scrap, rework, and downtime, providing regular reports to senior management.
  • Manage inventory of raw materials, tools, and supplies for manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for all manufacturing processes, with a focus on nuclear-grade components.
  • Participate in customer audits and inspections, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across the manufacturing department.
  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial management, mechanical engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in specialty machining or nuclear/industrial component production.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining, welding, and fabrication techniques.
  • Familiarity with nuclear quality standards (e.g., ASME NQA-1) and industry-specific regulations preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP) preferred.
