Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Columbus, OH (#TE1016)

Employment Type: Full-time
Hourly Rate: $33 - $47.50/hour (experience-dependent)

Position Overview:

Perform advanced nuclear medicine procedures using radiopharmaceuticals to produce diagnostic images. Ensure patient safety, deliver compassionate care, and maintain strict compliance with radiation protocols in a dynamic clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for performing Nuclear Medicine procedures to produce diagnostic images.
  • Provides procedural-related patient care and education. Maintains records and documentation for procedures.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities of the department and daily management of infection prevention and control activities.
  • Performs routine and emergent Nuclear Medicine procedures by correctly using imaging equipment, related accessories, and radiopharmaceutical agents. Upholds radiation safety standards and department protocol.
  • Receives, handles, stores, prepares, and administers radiopharmaceuticals to patients according to protocol.
  • Prepares patient and exam room for imaging procedure. Helps the patient with appropriate dress.
  • Provides a comfortable, friendly, secure atmosphere for all patients. Provides patient and family education related to imaging procedures.
  • Communicates with other caregivers to ensure continuity and appropriateness of patient care.
  • Maintains manual and computerized patient, department, and hospital records. Performs associated data entry and clerical tasks as needed. Responsible for ordering and stocking department supplies.
  • Performs and documents equipment quality control according to department protocol. Performs routine cleaning and preventative maintenance. Recognizes and reports any malfunction to
    the appropriate person or department.
  • Treats patients and families with dignity and respect. Ensures confidentiality of patient records. Interacts professionally with patients and families and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Education: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Nuclear Medicine registration or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board registration required.
  • Licensure:
    • Ohio Department of Health Radiologic License required.
    • BLS certification within 30 days of employment required.
  • Experience: New graduates to seasoned technologists
  • Technical Skills:
    • Radiopharmaceutical preparation/administration
    • Gamma camera/PET-CT operation
    • Radiation safety protocols
  • Soft Skills:
    • Patient education expertise
    • Interdepartmental collaboration
