We are seeking an EMC Engineer that will focus on solving complex electromagnetic compatibility and interference challenges for mission-critical electrical and electronic systems used in nuclear and highly regulated environments. This is not a checkbox testing role — it requires critical thinking, strong documentation discipline, and the ability to adapt test strategies to real-world systems. Engineers in this role are trusted technical representatives who work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure systems meet stringent performance and compliance requirements.
Core responsibilities:
- Develop and execute EMC / EMI test plans for complex electrical and electronic systems, adapting established methods to unique system configurations and customer requirements
- Perform a wide range of EMC qualification testing in laboratory environments, including emissions, immunity, surge, ESD, and RF susceptibility testing
- Operate and interpret data from advanced test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, EMI receivers, and related instrumentation
- Analyze test results, identify non-compliance issues, and support troubleshooting efforts to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions
- Produce clear, detailed technical reports and documentation aligned with quality assurance and regulatory standards
- Support on-site testing and field diagnostics at customer facilities as needed, including measurements, surveys, and system verification activities
- Collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and project stakeholders to ensure high technical quality and consistent execution
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical discipline
- 3–7+ years of experience in EMC engineering, test engineering, or related technical roles
- Working knowledge of EMC testing standards and methodologies (e.g., MIL-STD-461, IEC 61000 series, or similar)
- Experience operating common EMC test equipment and producing formal test documentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply sound engineering judgment in ambiguous situations
- High attention to detail, particularly in test planning, data interpretation, and report writing
- Professional communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
- Willingness to travel occasionally to support on-site testing and troubleshooting
- U.S. citizenship required due to facility access and regulatory requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting testing or engineering efforts in regulated industries such as nuclear, aerospace, defense, automotive, or industrial systems
- Familiarity with lab operations, systems integration, or qualification testing environments
- EMC-related certifications (e.g., iNARTE) or willingness to pursue certification
- Comfort working in multidisciplinary engineering teams and research-driven environments
- Competitive annual salary with annual performance reviews
- Comprehensive health, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage
- 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
- Four weeks of paid time off plus paid holidays
- Ongoing professional development through mentorship, training, and exposure to advanced engineering challenges
- Long-term growth opportunities within a technically rigorous, mission-driven organization
