Position Summary

The Director of FP&A is responsible for leading the company’s financial planning, forecasting, and analytical processes. This is a senior individual contributor role requiring strong strategic, analytical, and collaborative capabilities.
The Director works closely with executive leadership and business unit heads to drive financial performance and strategic decision-making. This role will partner extensively with the Director of Management Reporting, relying on that function for accurate and timely financial data and standardized reporting. The FP&A Director translates those outputs into forward-looking insights, forecasts, and recommendations to support the company’s growth and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Forecasting

• Lead the coordination and development of the annual operating plan, long-range plan, and rolling forecasts.
• Build and maintain sophisticated financial models to support planning, scenario analysis, and strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Director of Management Reporting and Accounting to ensure forecast assumptions align with historical performance and reporting standards.
• Partner with business leaders to validate forecasts, assess drivers, and ensure accountability for results.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Leverage data provided by Management Reporting to perform in-depth financial analysis, including variance, trend, and sensitivity analysis.
• Translate results into clear insights and recommendations for senior management and the Board.
• Develop and enhance dashboards and KPIs to track business performance and strategic goals.
• Identify emerging risks and opportunities and provide proactive guidance to leadership.

Strategic Business Partnership

• Work cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, and Commercial teams to evaluate project economics, pricing, and investment returns.
• Support M&A evaluations, capital allocation decisions, and strategic growth initiatives through robust financial modeling.
• Collaborate with the Director of Management Reporting to ensure consistency between internal management analyses and external reporting narratives.

Collaboration & Influence

• Partner effectively with Accounting, Treasury, and other finance functions to ensure alignment on assumptions, methodologies, and outputs.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, influencing business decisions through data-driven insights.
• Drive improvements in financial processes, systems, and analytical tools through partnership rather than direct authority.

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure all planning and analytical activities align with GAAP, SOX, and internal control standards.
• Support external reporting and investor relations by providing forward-looking analysis and context for financial results.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; MBA or CPA preferred.
• Experience:
  - 7+ years in finance with significant experience in FP&A or corporate finance roles.
  - Experience in a publicly traded company is required, including knowledge of SEC reporting cycles and SOX compliance.
  - Proven ability to operate effectively without direct reports while influencing and collaborating across all levels of the organization.
 

• Skills:
  - Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
  - Strong command of ERP and planning systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Adaptive Insights, or similar).
  - Excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.
  - Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights for senior leadership.

Salary range: $170,000– $220,000
